Wellness travel has taken the travel industry by storm, as travelers place a higher emphasis on their physical and emotional health. They would rather spend their vacation time nurturing their body and soul.

If this sounds like you, southeast Saskatchewan has hotspots that focus on wellness that will help you feel refreshed, healthy and ready to tackle the weeks ahead.

Location: Carlyle SK.

Best for: Treatments, lengthy walking trails

Where to stay: Living Skies Lodge is the perfect sanctuary for rest and relaxation. You will be pampered with their luxuries amenities, have a soak in the hot tub or just crawl into their bed with its buttery soft sheets. To start your day off right, drive north to Moose Mountain Provincial Park, hike any of their well-marked trails, and connect with nature. Next, unwind at the Lotus Tree Wellness and Healing, which is known for being a multi-disciplinary wellness centre. It offers many spa-like treatments and specialty services, including chiropractic and cupping massage.

Location: Estevan, SK

Best for: Yoga, meditation and outdoor fitness

Where to stay: Stay right in the Woodlawn Regional Park with a camper or tent or stay at one of the nearby hotels. Or try the Western Star, their rooms are enormous, and each has a soaker tub. The park rents kayaks, canoes, or paddle boats for a trip up the Souris River. Experience the calm pull of the river. Be on the lookout for birds, turtles and wildflowers growing along the banks. The park is also home to an outdoor fitness area, outdoor yoga platform and mediation area. Ask the gatehouse how to try the aerial yoga platform.

Location: Weyburn, SK

Best for: Ladies shopping

Where to stay: Microtel Inn and Suites has a pool and hot tub, perfect for the ladies' shopping weekend. It also has an outdoor lounge; sit around the gas fire pit with a glass of wine and rest your feet after a day of shopping. Nothing says wellness to a group of ladies than a shopping trip. Make sure to make Evelyn Lane Clothing Co. a must-stop. The boutique carries high-end lines with styling specialists that have an eye for flair. Also, stop at The Void or Expressions Fashions; they both have great finds!

Location: Roche Percee, SK

Best for: Mediation spots

Where to stay: The village of Roche Percee is 20 km East of Estevan. Try a night at Days Inn Estevan. The rooms are quiet and clean, and the restaurant has a great healthy menu. We recommend the avocado toast.

The Rocks of Roche Percee are a historic place to sit and meditate. It once was a meeting place for Indigenous peoples and early European settlers. For a unique lookout spot -  follow the grid road north of Roche  Percee for 30kms. You will drive along a gravel road to a swinging bridge. The space is a perfect spot to dip your feet in the river or throw some rocks.
